Couples Therapy
Couples Therapy in Madison, WI
Couples therapy at Sandhill Psychotherapy is for partners who want to understand their relationship more clearly and develop more intentional, satisfying ways of relating. Some couples seek therapy during periods of conflict or transition, while others come in wanting to strengthen connection, communication, or intimacy within an already functional relationship.
The work is collaborative and reflective, informed by attachment theory and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Sessions attend to relational patterns and emotional dynamics, including how each partner experiences closeness, distance, and responsiveness. Therapy provides space to slow down interactions, clarify needs, and develop more secure and responsive ways of relating.
Sessions typically take place in the office and may also incorporate optional outdoor or movement-based formats when helpful. These approaches are used intentionally to support engagement and perspective, and are guided by the goals and preferences of both partners.
