About Me

John Binkley
M.S., MFT-IT
MY APPROACH
I work with individuals and couples who are interested in growth, self-understanding, and more intentional ways of living and relating. My aim is to create a therapeutic relationship that is collaborative, grounded, and practical, with an emphasis on understanding patterns over time rather than treating symptoms in isolation.
In addition to traditional in-office sessions, I offer optional outdoor and movement-based work. These approaches intentionally incorporate body, attention, and activity when they support reflection, perspective, and meaningful therapeutic progress.
MY STORY
My path to psychotherapy has been shaped by a longstanding interest in how people make sense of their lives, relationships, and choices over time. I have been drawn to work that values depth, curiosity, and careful attention rather than quick solutions or rigid frameworks.
I am especially interested in how context matters—how environment, movement, relationships, and life circumstances shape the way we think, feel, and relate. This perspective informs my interest in offering therapy that sometimes takes place outside the traditional office setting, where reflection can feel more natural and less constrained.
Over time, my work has increasingly focused on people who are functioning well but want to engage more deliberately with their inner lives or relationships. I value work that is steady, thoughtful, and respectful of each person’s capacity for insight and change.
When not working I can be found rock climbing, practicing Brazilian jiu jitsu, and working on various projects on my hobby farm.
